Stand-up

Stand-up

I sat my whole life until I stood up to comedy. Feet firmly planted on Paris soil (Paris, Texas that is), I made my stand-up debut opening a show at LMAO Comedy. Paris’ best, worst, and only comedy club. Interning as an engineer at the local diaper factory filled my days and stand-up classes filled up my nights. After rigorous training on how to turn on a microphone, I was ready to hold one. 99% of my set was about race. 1% was a joke about a belt buckle. I’m most proud of my adoption jokes which included “China’s government loves to play card games. Their favorite game is UNO or as it’s known in America, The One Child Policy.”  In all seriousness, I did much better than I expected and the audience let me know it. I have since performed a few times and hope to continue standing for many sitters to come.
